What a emotionally intense book. The writing in this book was great. There were a few places where it was confusing whose perspective we were seeing everything through, but I thought, for the most part, it wasn’t bad. The narration was superb. Travis Baldree is one of the best and in this book I actually forgot the book was being performed by him because of how good his female voice was for Micah. He does a great job with emotional parts and making the characters voices tremble. The story itself wasn’t bad, but was a little predictable. Although I did not see a few things coming a lot of it was predictable. Author has so many scenes where his core is hurting him from over use when he just started his fighting. Maybe there is more to it, but it really doesn’t seem like it. This book almost convinced me to stop listening to the series, but the last 4 minutes of the book makes me curious what will happen, but every time it seems to not matter how powerful author is, he always looses. I get that for other times, but sometimes they gotta give us a win and not just make us feel like it’s hopeless all the time. Also, why do the MC’s keep making such stupid decisions??? It seems like they could advance the story without all the emotional stupidity. It’s not a horrible book, just dumb sometimes. I would say it’s worth the credit, but right on the edge.
