I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I did like the story even though I can never understand why anyone would want to get in the kind of trouble the main character chooses to be. It’s not as if he has no alternatives… I guess curiosity killed the cat…and more. I also noted a little mean streak in Kevin who pursues the “Imp” at great length and personal risk. And again: why? But so the tale goes… The writing is excellent and if you are a friend of horrific graphic descriptions, this book is for you. I’m not sure that the fantastical creature fits the description of an imp (a small, mischievous devil or sprite) as at the end it is not that at all, but it does give you the idea that you are dealing with an entity not easily definable. This Imp however is not always the one that victimizes, but it’s a victim in turn, at least while in captivity. You might even feel sorry for it…
I loved the narrator’s performance as it added to the suspenseful atmosphere of the audiobook.
