As I’ve come to expect from CT Phipps, this was a fun story about a protagonist who is not a good guy, but who does bad things for good reasons. While this was set in the United States of Monsters universe, it didn’t cross over into the Weredeer or Fangton stories directly, at least as far as I could tell. I enjoyed the dialog and the basic plot. I will admit that this one lacked a bit of polish which a big publishing house may have address in editing. While I enjoy Jeffry Kafer performances, this production seemed a bit flat and felt like the audio track from an old film noir reel. Having said that, I still found the story and performance enjoyable. I particularly like the action scenes and the interplay between characters. If this were to morph into a trilogy or series, I would hope for a bit more depth of character development and maybe some additional foreshadowing of the future New Detroit and Bright Falls situations.
