Slight spoilers ahead
So I think the book itself would be a 4 star book if it wasn’t the second book in the series. But since it is, my review has to take that into account. It is basically the same book as the first one. The characters follow the exact same progression arc through the two books, Both the bad guys and the good guys. That took off two stars. Another star was taken off because their “training” is a lot less believable this time around. They stayed in a hole for 42 years doing nothing but fighting the exact same monsters? I don’t care how dedicated you are that is ridiculous. I stopped after that point and I realized the ending was basically going to be the same as the first book.
