The narration was stellar, and the writing was witty and fun. Though, it’s definitely another one of those “fat people are worthy of love books” where the ONLY reason the fat person finds love is because they’re trying not to be fat anymore… It’s kinda like the “strong” female character that’s a misogynist… saying one thing and then doing the other. I mean, there’s literally a scene where one character is trying to prove to another that they should accept what they see in the mirror because they’re not as fat as they used to be… not, that he’s an amazing guy or whatever, but because they are changing to be “better”, reinforcing the idea that they are intrinsically better and more worthy because they’re thinner now… It made the words about “being the same on the inside” really hollow and meaningless, because they still had to be “this thin” to matter…
