This book is about a down-on-his-luck Australian who is offered a large sum of money to help locate a large primordial beast in Finland. Crew members disappear. Odd decisions are made. Truth? Is anybody telling the truth? To what lengths are they willing to go to find the beast? Mind-blown!

I wanted to like this book. I love action-packed thrillers. I caught myself thinking that this could have been a great book with a little more work and editing. The story flow slowed down in places. The end of the book was fast paced and full of action. Some of the characters were very stereo-typed. I would have enjoyed the book more if the characters were more real and didn’t stick so closely to a predictable stereo-type (especially the rich financier of the project). Then the ending. I am not going to give anything away. It looks like the author sets two of the characters up for sequels. One got my attention and the other made me stop and wonder why?

Overall, I think the narrator did a good job. However, there were some things that I didn’t like. 1) I sometimes got the characters confused because they didn’t always sound different from each other. 2) The Australian character sometimes had an accent and sometimes did not. 3) There were two spots in the production where phrases were repeated. One of which is at 4:11:34.
