It’s very rare that I DNF anything, and I have never reviewed a book I didn’t finish. But there’s a specific reason I gave up on this early on that I think other people might also find problematic.
The first time we meet one of the MCs, he has his cock down an unnamed slave’s throat. He treats that man as, essentially, a live fleshlight. By this time, I was already pretty unimpressed with the other MC and though I made it a but further, I didn’t really think I was going to find either of them redeemed. Yeah, I know, slavery in the Caribbean in the 1700s, it’s not pretty, what are you going to expect from the British slave-owning aristocracy – doesn’t mean I really want to read about it, and it doesn’t mean I’m going to be able to find that Brit aristo sympathetic.
So, YMMV, etc. But that’s my experience with this one.
