I really do enjoy these books but our MC is SO slow and it just feels like the story is going nowhere, not to mention that the MC can not progress because he needs “enlightenment” you know that SUPER vague and totally not just an artificial plot device to keep up the constant “MC is an underdog/ not a hero” shtick.
I seriously hope that the author can speed things up a bit because this book felt slow and the teen romance drama just felt very artificial, it just felt so tedious after how much I liked the first two books, also what is up with constantly telling the reader/listener that the MC is NOT special we listeners/readers connect with these characters and think they ARE special and that is why they are the protagonists it feels very weird being told over and over again that our MC is not special and it feels like the fourth wall is being broken to push the point home.
With all that being said though I did enjoy the last couple hours of the book a good bit, the end and the promise of things to come is what made this book slightly better than 3 stars even if the experience is marred by some plot issues in my eyes, if I could I would give it 3.5.
