Way too much monologuing magical mumbo-jumbo. Stories not bad. But seriously, way too much “philosophy!” The book is mostly just a self-satisfied NPC trying to extrapolate the nature of the book’s world. Hearing a made up character lecture other characters (in contrived scenes to allow for it) on their conjectures regarding the inner mechanics of a made up magical world is TEDIOUS. You fancy yourself a thinker? Fine, have your character ponder ethics – or something that relates to our world too. But poorly formed (un)natural philosophy is pointless.

And what the F with the magical “light” vision? During this magical sight the cultivator can see “light” but no actual objects, instead only voids where they exist? How do you think light and sight normally work?
