As I am finding to be the norm for Mr. Craven’s stories, this is not your normal EMP or Prepper story. In fact this one is not about a prepper at all although we do run into a couple preppers during the stories.
This trilogy takes place after the EMP starting in Chicago and then moving cross country as people try to return home.
As usual for Mr. Craven the story is well written and the characters are well developed.
This is a story you won’t want to put down.
Boyd Craven III has developed a world where I am finding most of his books take place He has a book called “The World Burns” that is the first in a series. I have not had the chance to read that book but I believe that is the setting for most of these other stories. I see that some are even sub titled “A Scorched Earth Novel” or as this trilogy is sub titled “Out of the Dark”. Although most of these are not related stories, they all take place in the same world and therefore do not rehash the same event but tell each story by itself.
Enough has been written about “The Voice of the Apocalypse” Kevin Pierce that I really don’t need to say how much he added to this story. Let’s just say that I cannot imagine anyone narrating this better.
