First I will say this was a solid 5 star book until the end. However the ending I did not like, in fact I think lackluster is being generous. However the other 13 hours were very enjoyable.

Performance: The actors are great, and also near the end the editing starts being an issue. I don’t think it is as bad as some reviews say. but there was 1 line where while it was being spoken another line from about 20 minutes later is being played (so basically 2 people talking at once). The long pauses are during chapter changes, and honestly it was like maybe 3-5 seconds and happened to be just enough to bring my attention back to the story if I’ve gotten sidetracked by something. So I didn’t find it to be an issue. Then there were some parts where they were going a bit too crazy with the sound effects, I found the sound effects to be a nice accompaniment throughout the story but near the end it starts to go a bit overboard. Mainly the final (or was it second to final) fight Vincent is in, you constantly have these “fighter sounds” which kind of took my attention away from what was going on.

Story: The story was on par, with book one until near the end, but my main complaint is with the endings (I consider it to have 2 endings, the first one is for the overall book and what they were trying to do and the second one is the epilogue), First, I don’t like revenge stories. They annoy me because way too much effort and time is wasted, and well I generally find it stupid. If the revenge is a part of a bigger goal (basically not going out of the way for revenge, and it winds up being a perk) is fine and usually a fun addition. HOWEVER this was in the first book too but the complete disconnect of emotion towards revenge on the bad guy is… unrelatable, might be the best way to put it. I don’t expect them to go out for revenge, or even do some kind of torture on the culprit(s), but some kind of reprisal should have been made. However there is this disconnect that made the story feel… forced perhaps. There is one more aspect that I didn’t like but I can’t think of a way to point it out without being a spoiler. Then there is the Epilogue, which maybe tried to be romantic but instead it irritated me because you have a character that is way too extreme in one direction suddenly be way too extreme in the other and tries to play it off romantically (I think), but I just found it boring and irritating that people can’t seem to grasp what finding a stable middle ground is. It also gave me clues as to how I think the next book will go and… I am not sure I can bring myself to be interested. I will see.

That may seem like story should be less than 4 stars but honestly it was all within the last hour and the rest was excellent.

Overall: I had more to put here but I went off on story so much I think I’m fine with saying since the other 2 are 4 stars overall can’t really be higher. However the only reason I might make it lower is because I don’t know if I’ll get the 3rd book. But I will only know when the time comes.
