While I enjoyed book 1, I found this book a marked improvement. There was much more of a cohesive bonding between Alex and his 3 companions. This was particularly pleasing with Charles Lamb shedding Cassandra’s previous cloying attachment to Alex and becoming more a a valued warrior companion.
While the confrontations included the intended usurper and hostage taker of Cassie’s mom, along with encounters with Pirates and dwarves, as the title implies the major battle scenes involved battles with wyrms and dragons.
It was a fun listen and move the story along swimmingly, made all that much better with Travis Baldree’s performance.
