I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I haven’t been listening to audiobooks very long, and I have been disappointed in almost every audiobook I have listened to thus far–if not for the story then by the narrator. However, this one gives me hope that there are more out there that are just as fun to listen to as they are to read. The story was actually really engaging–I read a few reviews before I purchased that made me think I would be cringing at the puppy love displayed by the main character, but he was hands down my favorite character. He is sweet and sharp, and his reaction to Lady Fieldhurst was completely believable without being sappy. The narrator, Joel Froomkin, was fabulous. He delivered multiple accents and gendered voices seamlessly. His timing was perfect–not too slow, not too fast, and he knew what to do with punctuation in his read. I highly recommend giving this one a try!
