The story is great. The performance is fantastic. I am so glad that this book was recommended to me. Henry starts his journey because of a wakeup call from his terrible ex. Although he realizes that what he had with him was over a long time ago, he feels better since he started exercising, is healthier, etc. He develops feelings for his trainer but doesn’t believe Reed will want to be someone “like him.” But Reed has always seen the person on the inside. Henry does this for the right reasons-himself. The bit about the race towards the end of the story really got me. I run a lot of races and I’ve had a few tough ones that I had to really talk myself into finishing. I’ve had to murder some hills and collapse at some finish lines (literally.) The writing is hilarious and the delivery is perfect. I listened to it all in one sitting. Definitely worth it.
