I felt the story in this book was good, better after setting out for the kobold village. I fell short in love with the use of the violin in the first book, this one I think I may have wanted more. That isn’t to say that there was an insufficient amount or that it was poorly used, just more would have been better.

Overall the book is good, the hook at the end is a nice tie-in back to book one without being overly telegraphed. It’s a good book, a good series really, the MC isn’t OP, just clever with what he is working with. Sure Lars grants him a lot of convenience in things just working out but hey that’s high charisma right?
