This book is VERY Chinese. I have no frame of reference for any of the units of measurement used. For example, how far is a thousand li? Is that similar to a thousand leagues? Miles? Kilometers? Feet? And the character names are so extremely different from anyting in the western world that even after listening to the entire book, I still had no idea who was talking, or to whom. I had to use context clues and educated guesses at who was doing what. I honestly couldn’t tell you the main character’s name. Despite this, the book is actually really good, and I’ll be buying the rest of the series. Maybe I’ll get the hang of those names yet!
