Great book in a great series. This picks up immediately after the events of Book 1. Ragus is now living with Conner and Barb. He is still enamored of Barb. Then Connor’s boss has sent a man and his daughter to stay with Connor. The man is a dentist and a past friend of Connor’s. Shannon, his daughter, is about the same age as Barb. Shannon is very sweet whereas Barb is prickly and mean. In fact Barb is one of the most obnoxious characters I have ever encountered in books. She is always mean, harsh, angry, hateful and everything else unpleasant, to everyone. Her mean personality often causes trouble at the worse times. The only person she respects is her father, yet she sometimes is mean tp him.
Connor has marked his surrounding community as MM territory, which means that it is under the protection of the Mad Mick. Connor is the Mad Mick. Brian, the leader of the horrible group that kidnapped the women in the first book sets out to build an army and find out who decimated his men and freed the women. He discovers that the person is Mad Mick and Brian is determined to get revenge. Mad Mick and his people are outnumbered by Brian’s army, but Mad Mick is determined to defeat the army – and he has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. This is really exciting!!!
Kevin Pierce is one of the best narrators in the business. I love his voice and the way he presents dialog. It seems so real. His accents are perfect and I always know who is speaking. Pierce, teamed up with the writing of Horton,, make this a fantastic audible book.
