For people trapped in a game for centuries, they all seem to handle it too well.

Unnecessary time jumps as well. They felt as though the author wanted a lazy way to just make the characters stronger so just decided “oh I’ll just tell the readers that 40 years passed. they’ll understand it then.”

The main group are all very uninteresting and bland in every way. Their banter is awkward and stiff. They all become overpowered due to the aforementioned time jumps. I didn’t get the feeling of any struggles any of the characters had to overcome and couldn’t find myself invested at all in them.

The villain is just an immature child. It was kind of funny how he just out of the blue decided to gain power and how that worked out for him. Unfortunately that’s about all he has going for him as a character.

It’s unfortunate that this interesting idea for a genre seems to bring out all the bad writers who rush out a book with the laziest, most cookie cutter plots imaginable.

The performance by the voice actors is actually what kept me invested. They did a great job and I was even able to ignore the terrible dialogue and writing at moments thanks to them.

There are probably much better options out there if this type of story interests you.
