Charles Lamb’s writing style was fine and Travis Baldree’s narration performance very good but the author never gave the listener any sense that the MC was faced with any existential danger or battle challenges. The whole relationship involvement between Alex and Cassie seemed too simple and eventually, the aloof Cassie became somewhat of an annoyingly cloying character.
Also, the story development surrounding the magical beings, i.e., elves, goblins, orc, dwarfs, &c was brief, relying on other lore stereotypes to define them.
However, I did find the novel entertaining.
