The world(s) of the Twinborn Chronicles are fascinating – particularly Veydrus – and the twinborn concept is explored in fun ways throughout the 3 books in this collection. There was a lot to like here, but the characters held me back from really getting hooked. At first I liked Kryus and Brannis, but it didn’t last. No spoilers here, but by the end of book 3, I wouldn’t want to know any of the main characters. I like flawed protagonists, but I couldn’t find redeeming qualities here, unless you count being powerful. I wasn’t rooting for anyone, so I wasn’t as invested in the story as I wanted to be.

I enjoyed these books, but I may have entered with my hopes a bit too high after reading J.S. Morin’s Black Ocean series, which I absolutely loved. These are good, but I don’t know if I’ll continue with the series after these. Book 3 doesn’t end on a cliffhanger or anything, so I’m kinda good leaving it here.
