Divided: Silent nation is a pretty PA book bu not one of the best I have read and I have read many. The story is a bit simplistic and the characters are only ok and sometimes not very believable. That being said I still found it fairly enjoyable. The story follows the story of Ben, his family and those in his circle. As with many of these types of novels there is an EMP and of course he is away from home at the time and he must survive, figure things out and try to get back home.
The action is pretty decent and the story isn’t bad but I didn’t really form a bond with any of the characters and although they are supposed to be pretty good people they don’t often seem that great and devolve pretty quickly into me and mine first mentality. Some of it seems a little right wing politics wise and there are a few jabs made at the other side which is fairly common in these type of books but I know that bothers some.
The narration by Andrew Wehrlen was great and really added to the enjoyment of the book. I have listened to many books by him and always enjoy his performances, he can really elevate the material and make it more enjoyable.
Overall I would recommend it if you really enjoy PA novels and are looking for a quick read and I am interested to see how future installments in the series will be.
