This is the fourth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I have really enjoyed every one up until this book. I had a hard time getting into this one. I’m not sure if I had too much going on in my brain to really focus, or the writing kept jarring me out of the story and allowed my brain to loose focus and wander. I found the constant “fo”this and “we’re fo’d” unnecessary and irritating. The other books in this world have the same alien species, similar foes, even reference characters from other books, yet in this one, the characters all use this alternative way of swearing. The other books work very without it, I don’t know why it is injected into this one. Seems maybe this was written by a different person? I still liked the storyline but it didn’t sink in, and I didn’t really feel for the characters.

I am curious where this is going but I think I will listen to the others in this world first

This is the twelfth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Andrew Wehrlen ) and I would listen to another. He does well performing, not just reading this book. As usual, I’ve enjoyed listening to him. He uses a variety of voices and brings the story to life.

There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence. There is swearing , but also the use of ‘fo’ instead of ‘fu¢#’.
