I have to agree with other reviewers. The concept that Charlie is a super-smart engineer does not hold water with his actions after the slavery..etc…however, I was able to think of him as a backyard car mechanic and that worked better.

The Stockholm syndrome effect feels rushed…which adds another mark against the book.

The book felt depressing…maybe that was the reader, but I found myself reading/listening to other books in-between chapters.

Now the plot is interesting…if not rushed around a lot. I wouldn’t mind another author taking a shot at a similar concept.

I really don’t want to continue with the series, my curiosity over-powered by my fear of depression.
