Lionel is a fabulously funny femme bar tender who, with the brilliance of Joel Leslie’s voice acting, had me laughing out loud within the first minutes of listening to this book.
Dog is still in the closet at home and has always been able to pass as straight, although he is out to his friends. Hooking up with someone as in your face as Lionel would not be something he’d contemplate sober.
Love has a way of breaking down barriers but it won’t happen if Dog can’t accept Lionel, sequins and all.
I loved that the author used humour and a fabulous storyline to address this very real issue of judgement within and between the gay community. You don’t have to be gay to understand judgement based on appearance, however, and this is a book most people could relate to.
A fabulously engaging story with lots of humour combined with the brilliance of Joel Leslie made this a wonderful listening experience.
Highly recommend
