This book is different from the first two in this series. In this, we detract quite a bit from the main characters we’ve had so far and delve deeper into what’s happening at Arthur’s compound.

We get to learn more about what the character Robert is like. It’s interesting the author chose this character as the one to cause friction among the group. In sort of a ‘how not to act during the apocalypse’ manner, Robert’s demeanor and personality provides enough realism to showcase that living in community has its challenges in even like-minded people getting along.

Robert’s adventures also became a mechanism for showing what not to do, without making it overly obvious.
