Clearly Robinson is one of the leading lights of the current crop in contemporary sci-fi writers. On occasion, at least in the opinion of this listener, his stories can veer off the road and find themselves in need of some aggressive editing. This is one of them I am afraid. It’s not that it is bad, so much as it feels like JR wants to cram as much weird story arcs into it as possible.
His long-time performer, Kafe, does an outstanding job at bringing the material to life.
On balance, this offering is worth the credit ( I was gifted this one in exchange for this independent review ) but with the caveat’s I have laid out here.
