I hesitated on this book for reasons I’m not sure of but finally pulled the trigger after a recent disappointment on a different LITRPG series. As a fan of the genre I have high expectations but also am willing to forgive a lot. There was no need for forgiveness with this title and with Jeff Hayes, Anne Elliot and The SoundBooth gang at the helm it did not disappoint.
The characters are easy to get along with and the a-typical role our “hero” takes is a nice change to the normal good v. evil trope of most of fantasy regardless of sub-category.
Plenty of action, good pacing, nice game mechanics without being inundated by constants player sheet updates. I highly recommend this book for anyone that is interested in or even a seasoned fan of LITRPG, or anyone that is simply looking for a good story
