Wow, this was my first book from this author and I was completely hooked from the start. I went into the book completely blind and was unsure of where exactly the story was going to go. Hailee basically has an on-going rivalry with her stepbrother who is the school’s and town’s beloved quarterback and who can do no wrong. She is somewhat of an outcast and has only one close friend.

The book focuses a lot on some back and forth pranks between Hailee and her stepbrother and his group of friends and the impact it has on her. It also focuses a lot on football and the importance of football for this group of guys and on a rivalry between their school team and another high school team, which Hailee unfortunately also gets caught up in. While all of this is going on it seems like maybe Hailee’s stepbrother’s friend Cameron isn’t entirely the bad guy he has always seemed to be. There are moments where their interactions seem entirely different. Although Cameron started off one way in the beginning of the book, I couldn’t help but find myself rooting for him as the book went on.

There were some parts of the book that seemed not entirely completely realistic, however, still entertaining and since I read/listen for fun and am aware that not everything in books will always be based completely in reality, I still found this book to be 100% engaging. This listen was definitely a guilty pleasure listen that I did not want to stop and I was dying to know how the story was going to play out. I cannot wait for more from these characters. Hailee’s friend Felicity was definitely an enigma throughout the story, and this book definitely left off in an interesting place with her, so I will be interested to check out book two in the series.

Sarah Puckett and Wen Ross absolutely killed it as a dynamic duo in this audiobook as Hailee and Cameron. They really brought these characters to life and made me completely invested in this story line from the get go. I cannot wait to start book two!! #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
