This should be a movie; it’s just that darned good.

The main character, Linden, is so likeable and you cannot keep yourself from rooting for him. He has a chance encounter that saves his life and gives him a glimpse in to his new and possible future. That is…if he has the courage to leave his home behind and find the others that will be imperative to his new possible future. His drive to become something more than what he or his people (who look down on him) think he is, This fuels him to brave against the dangers outside his home. No one has ever lived very long outside the border of his homeland or lived to do it more than a few times either. His possible future showed him being more powerful than anyone in his home land…and who know, but his disadvantages may actually turn out to be advantages in the end.

First of all, let me say that only a few minutes in to the story, I knew I had to have to rest of the series published so far. I bought every one of them on sale for $5 each (THANK YOU, AUDIBLE! PLEASE, OH, PLEASE DO MORE SALES LIKE THIS!) I listened to every single one of them in less than 2 weeks and never, I say, never have I loved a series this much to dedicate myself to more than a 3 book series…but I did, and I can barely wait to listen to the next one.

You’ll find excitement, combat, danger, surprise, and some wit on top of it all like a cherry on a sundae. I found myself laughing out loud so many times while I listened. I think I’d really like the author in real life and that’s odd because I’ve never read a book and thought that.

The narration was good as well. There were a few parts that I think there could’ve been a little more emotion added in to fit the context but not enough to put me off the story at all and I did like the way he did the voices of the different characters, especially Yerin.

One last thing…I find it so refreshing that the author didn’t feel the need to add sexual scenes or explicit language. This is a great story that you can feel comfortable listening to with the windows down. I really appreciate that. Thanks, Mr. Wight. You’ve got a new fan.
