Narrator’s voice is low and gravelly. Every man sounded the same to me, both the good guys and the bad. It made it hard to invest in the main characters. The speed at which they care for each other made for a non- believable story. I like alpha males, but this one came off as 100% arrogant.

Plus, the whole time, the back of my mind hears the story like the narrator is selling the trailer of an action movie… “In a world without hope, one man would save the day…” That movie-trailer intensity applies even for the calm and mundane scenes; not enough variation to match the different tones of the story.

It sufficed for my road trip, especially as a borrowed audio book. I would not have paid a full credit for it and I won’t mind trading it in for my next Audible Escape read.
