This book was the story of how the amazing team of NecroSearch International was formed and some of their most famous cases were resolved. I knew of the group from watching the show Forensic Files. Still affectionately known as the Pig People for their groundbreaking use of pig carcasses in forensic research, their dedication, camaraderie, professionalism and sense of humour have won over many skeptics. Keeping their focus as a resource for law enforcement, they are careful not to promise what they cannot deliver. Many of the fields of research, tips techniques and equipment are cover in this book, which was updated in 2015 with new information. There is also a photo gallery with pictures of the team at work, the law enforcement officers they worked with and the criminals who would’ve otherwise gotten away with murder.
I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audio book. While the book itself is fascinating and a must for forensic fans, the narrator detracted from the experience. The narration was rote, with little change in non existent emotion. A good narrator makes a tremendous difference. If you have had the pleasure of hearing someone like the talented Jonathan Davis bringing crime books to life, you know the difference is night and day. Read the book, but pass on the audio version. I’m glad this was a Kindle Unlimited title.
