My husband & I listened to this on our work commute. He felt that this was more of a prequel, laying the groundwork for the series. That even as book 1, there wasn’t a challenge/win for the characters. Mostly all backstory to get to the next book.
I was happy with the narration. Sometimes southern accents can be overdone & sound fake or hokie. These seemed natural.
