This is a really fun story, the first of a series. It does get rather dark at times though. The narrator is terrific and I really enjoyed the book. I wish there was a strategy game built around the concepts here–it’s very easy to imagine.

I didn’t realize that this universe would intersect with the “Wild Wastes” series by Randi Darren (actually the same author – William D. Arand). That was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. I advise listening to both series in close succession.

This is marginally a harem novel, but only marginally so.
