Rating 4.5 stars

I will not summarize this story because it was already given in the description of this book and I do not want to give any of the plot away. The purpose of this review was to give potential readers information to make an informed decision about reading/listening to this book.

What I enjoyed:

• This story caught my attention immediately.
• The descriptions of locations and emotions were well done, easy to visualize, and to feel. I felt a part of the scenes.
• Death and grief are hard subjects to write about. The author did a wonderful job. This is a great read for those mourning, especially for those who feel they are somehow responsible or should have miraculously prevented it.
• Anger is a critical part of the grieving process and the author did a realistic representation of how it effects people.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters’ voices. This was the perfect voice for young adults.
• The pacing of this story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• The plot was not predictable.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• This story had a satisfying ending.
• This was a clean story, except in two places. The crude words used were used as a shock factor to snap people out of self blame. None of the words were the “F” word. There was no gratuitous swearing by characters. There was no sex.

I requested a free audiobook from the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for books narrated by Joyce Oben.
