This book (and series) is an unexpected delight. It has everything you could want: Magic; Action; Politics; Laughs; Twists; a strong female character, a positive male character; etc all wrapped in a cool world. It took a little bit to get into the book/series and it’s world but after a bit of time I didn’t want to put the series down (I’d sneak my headphones in to get “just a little more” of the adventure). This isn’t majorly insightful reading where you are going to grow as a person after being exposed to it. If I had to quibble I’d say the characters follow their archetypes very closely with little deviation- so any surprises come from the story rather than them. It is however an entertaining and fun adventure set in a unique world with solid characters trying to do their best in a harsh world. So stop reading this and start reading “Unsouled”!
