I have been known to read a book, love it, and then hunt down any other books written by the same author and buy them all, whether or not the are any good. I have started to do the same thing with narrators. I never would have run into this series if not for being madly in love with Joel Leslie from the Haven Hart and Curl Up and Dye series. And thanks to him, I have another author to start padding my audio and e-book shelves with.
I don’t always write reviews because everyone has an opinion and yadda yadda yadda, but sometimes you just have to speak up. This book literally had me laughing out loud – hard to explain to my husband and/or my coworkers. It also had me hiding in my office or in my bedroom with tears rolling down my cheeks… and yet another case of trying to explain to my husband and/or coworkers.
In serial romance stories, it is so easy to fall into cookie cutter characters, but Jude and Asa are so beautifully unique that you can’t predict how they are going to act or react to most situations and Joel’s narration of voices are distinct, making it easy to flow from one character to the next without questioning who is speaking. Joel’s vocalization of Billy was flat out amazing, and the pure innocence behind his dialogue was masterful! I am both delighted and embarrassed at how long it too me to realize that the fan mail responses at the beginning of chapters were not in fact real Asa written responses, which had me extremely confused about his character for quite a while and then rewinding to listen to them again so I could fully appreciate the genius that is Jude.
There is a little of everything in this series, and I HIGHLY recommend going to the author’s website to read the short stories for both Dylan/Gabe and Jude/Asa.
My absolute ONLY complaint is that I am likely going to have to wait several months before the third book is available on audible, but you had better believe I will have it on pre-order the second it is available.
