I like true crime books: they don’t give rise to fanciful imaginings by an author and convoluted stories (although these do hold their own place in literature). A well done crime book allows the reader to make up his or her mind about the “facts” and presentation of the same.

I really liked this book! It’s disappointing that the conviction took as many years as it did, but the different stages were important to the entire story! The fact that Rick was absolved the 1st time was important, although it DOES leave the question of “double jeopardy” (I understand that this was not technically double jeopardy, but I’m not sure how I feel about the whole “double jeopardy” situation). The author spelled out in complete detail all sides of the story, and consequently it was a great book, and it wasn’t a waste of time!
