The first 5 hours of exposition were incredibly frustrating. It is only after that things get interesting and we learn the truth of the plot. It isnt until the final stretch that we actually get any townbuilding.
Andrea’s voice acting of all the female characters were incredibly slow. Lex’s voice always felt condescending and childish. I debated just stopping the book it was so bad. Eventually it became tolerable around the 8 hour mark.
This book reminds me of The City and the Dungeon. But this book is incredibly slow. It is truly a slog and I wish the author summed up the first 5 hours in about 20 minutes instead.
Overall, it is an okay listen if you can get past the slog of a beginning.
