I have to tip my hat to Robinson and/or his audiobook publisher. In most audiobook covers, the narrator’s name is usually considerably smaller than the author’s. Here, however, they share equal billing and are touted as “The #1 Audible Bestselling Duo”. I love that the narrator, in this case, is getting respect and acknowledgment for their contribution.

Now to the review …

Each time I read a new book by Jeremy Robinson I’m amazed at how unique each is from the others. There are still elements of humor and geeky references sprinkled throughout, but each is creative in its own way.

Saul’s inability to sleep has wreaked havoc on his career and is taking its toll on his marriage. One sleepless night he receives a late-night FaceTime call from his research scientist wife, Morgan, and he witnesses a fatal catastrophe at her lab.

Racing to the scene of the incident Saul is quickly caught up in a web of government and corporate conspiracy and the very real existence of the afterlife. Along for the ride are Rain, a woman with a Jason Bourne-style set of skills and no memory of how she acquired them. Oh, and she turns blue when ghosts are near.

Tether is my favorite of Robinson’s books to date, besting my previous favorite, Alter, by a narrow margin. Tether combines elements of the Sixth Sense, Ghost, Godzilla, the Bourne Identity, and probably a half-dozen other.

It kept me guessing, with more twists and turns than a goat’s intestines. I was genuinely surprised and caught off guard several times throughout the story.

Over the course of the last few years, Jeffrey Kafer has become one of my most reliable narrators. His work on Tether further strengthens this position. He is capable of performing a wide range of characters and conveying the proper emotion in each scene.
