I felt in love with this series with the first book, and that’s always a bit dangerous because sometimes it’s hard to beat the high from it. But this book did it in spades.

I love Jude: he’s smart, and witty, funny and loyal, and so decided to do what’s best to his family, even if that means to put a stop to his own life, that you can’t help to love him fiercely.

I love how he falls in love with Billy, and seriously, who wouldn’t? The kid is adorable, smart and so well portrayed that you want to cuddle him and play with him. It’s not easy to write kids, but Morton did masterfully here.

The asides (answers to fan letters) were hilarious, and I was a little confused at the beginning as to why would Asa write such letters. But when I got the joke? they were even MORE hilarious.

Asa grows on you slowly but, by the end of the story, I loved him as much as I loved Jude. I even forgave him for the break-up 😛

An amazing, wholeheartedly recommended story.

Joel Leslie, though… I like his narrations, but he always uses the same two voices for the characters. And when so many of your favourites series are narrated by him, it gets annoying. Even in the same book, he uses the same voices. Gabe and Asa sounded the same :/
