I don’t care for books that have an unnecessary cliffhanger hopping to force you to buy the next book rather than just finishing the plot thread out for one book. Then the next book having a plot of its own, with people buying it because they like the characters and author. To me it says the author has very little faith that his skills are enough to encourage people to just want to buy the next book in the series. I’ve only seen a handful of books that did this and it didn’t irritate me. All were huge books in their own right and the books did have a logical stopping point. Just if it had rolled into one book as a story the book would be well into the thousands of pages. That’s not the case here.
