I really liked Morin’s Black Ocean and related series but Sins of Angels fell quite short of the high bar set by his other work. I didn’t like any of the characters even remotely as much as anyone aboard the Mobius or on any of the 3 worlds of the Twinborn Chronicles. The story here is much more epic and the biblical parallels are interesting but I would have preferred a smaller story focused on Knight or the Gibborn. Some of the scene transitions seem jarring and disorient the reader between chapters. I found I had to concentrate when listening to this series much more than others I’ve listened to. Combine that with the series’ other shortcomings and it is a hard listen.
