Infertat has some good concepts within it. It mixes some real world characters, some fantasy magical characters, and angels/demons characters. There are some good plot elements too. Some of the best is where the real world character interacts with certain characters from the magic world. The unfortunate thing is that the story lacks structure and good pacing.

There are a lot of characters the book follows around but I’m not exactly sure who’s important all the time. There are a couple characters in the fantasy world, and that the plot summary addresses, that aren’t really focused on or explained as to what makes one of them so awesome apart from the other magical people. The attempt to tie the characters together doesn’t happen in this book and sets it up for a sequel. The problem is that the story in this book is building only and even that it takes a long time to do so. The Fall from Heaven is done well and although it could have done without inter-cutting other stories from the current timeline to it, it’s interesting and deals with a lot of questions you would have about what the Fall might have looked like. And yet, the take over of the magic realm isn’t covered really at all or why a magic realm exists. The rules of the world are hard to gather from the story and there are parts that needed some more explanation to build the world. Some of the Bible references were accurate (and if the author wants an example of Christians reading the whole Bible, there are quite a few) and using some of the known demons and Grim Reaper images were a nice touch.

That is not to say the book is terrible. I enjoyed it enough for the time I put into it. It probably didn’t need to be as long as it was and it could have used that free up space to at least get through the conflict that the plot sets up. If the plot sounds interesting to you, which there’s more to it then what’s written here, and you’re ok waiting for a possible sequel then you might like it. It was ok. Final Grade – C-

NARRATION: Sean Duregger does a really great job with the story. It’s not too over the top but he’s got to play a lot of different demon voices which had to be a challenge but it was a good touch. There is one voice that had me picturing Sean Connery as a demon. There are a lot of characters in the book and Duregger is really talented. I would be happy to listen to him with other readings in the future. Good work.
