I somehow trudged through the first book in this series but finished other books along the way because I kept losing interest in the story. In addition to the narrator being less than stellar (pops her “p”s, sounds monotone but whiny, and frequently mispronounces words), in the first book I was not pleased with the “fixing” of an individual with Down syndrome making them become “perfect.” Also, I believe this was perhaps supposed to be in specific reference to being bitten by a vampire but, I could not believe it when I heard the line that was something like “they say when you’re about to be raped the best thing to do is lie back and enjoy it.” Are you f’ing kidding me? Despite all of that the story was just slightly intriguing enough for me to try this second book. But I just can’t. The writing isn’t good enough and the narrator just makes it all the worse.
