I had several issues with this book. It wasn’t bad but I also think there are some things I would have done differently.

1) Every fight seems to be against something 2-5X stronger than the party. In every case it feels like the party is getting absolutely wrecked and last second some super long shot solution bails them out. I don’t mind this happening some but I think there was like…. at least 6 major fights in this book and EVERY time without fail its something they absolutely should not have been fighting. I get that they are somehow OP in that they don’t die but really it gets old. Give some straight across fights and maybe even some easy fights because its kind of weird to think that just from the getgo and forevermore everything is on impossible rating.

2) Everything feels like its scripted rather than naturally flowing. The impossible feats that the party overcomes and even the items they gain (and lose) all seem…. kind of not like they feel all that natural. I won’t get into spoils but there are a lot of scenes where items or consumables are on hand and seem obvious but aren’t used appropriately. Hindsight obviously but its like EXACTLY when there is zero time left or after they should have been used that they are considered. I guess in a nutshell it seems like some things were done to drive more hype and it mostly served to annoy me.

Overall, this book felt a little more average in my opinion than the first one. It was…. ok but I really doubt I would listen to them again and as of right now I kind of doubt I would continue on with this series. I was a bit on the fence after the first book but I think I enjoyed the second one less than the first.
