For me, the best series make me want to keep up with what is happening in the lives of the characters. This didn’t do that for me. I don’t know if it is the writing, the reader, or a combo. I did get minor interest in Bob Ross, the rock, and the Chief of Police, but Tallow himself did not steal my heart the way Harry Dresden, Jinx(sp?), Jane Yellowrock, Beast, Algaliarept, Alex Verus, and more do. The only specific criticism I can give is that neither the author nor the editor know that the word “midget” is considered to be derogatory in the Little People world, and stating that use of the word “dwarf” could have lead to public outcry of racism was also a slam to Little People, aka dwarves.
