There are many books that inspire careful scrutiny of plot and world building. There are other books that are simply fun, and allow you to skip figuring out how many hours a laden dragon can fly, what kind of ecology would be necessary to support a large land predator, or how the heck time travel would work if you killed your own grandmother. This book, and the series, as a whole, are of the latter variety. That’s not to say it’s not carefully crafted, and no doubt, studiously researched. It’s just that this is a fun read, you can pop in and out of, fearlessly. Gary is a fun hero, sorry villain, and hearing his adventures battling various heroes, villains, and the incalculable varieties existing in between these labels, is a blast. Get it. Read it. Enjoy it.
