Although I really enjoy Mark Goodwin’s writing (in particular the Days of Noah and Days of Elijah series), I was pleasantly surprised by how good this story was. Lots of twists and did an excellent job of exposing the weaknesses in human nature. Particularly refreshing was the mistakes and shortfalls of the main characters and the struggle to overcome them. If he continues the rest of the series in like manner, I may have a new favorite. It will be a very difficult wait for the next installment. As always, the reading by Kevin Pierce is a joy to listen to and allows me to get immersed in the story instead of being distracted by the narration.
