** I received a free review copy of this book, though my review is voluntary and unbiased. **

The story continues from where it left off in the last book with some small jump in time, a couple weeks or so. The dialogue the story and the drama are all still there and just as good as the last book, the characters remain nuanced and driven by their own goals, though our power couple experience some problems and in several instances the Beastlord’s reactions seem a bit over the top sometimes. He loses a great deal of my sympathy with some of his antics in this book but he never steps over into truly unlikable. Jan remains a joy and we get to see her explore and dominate the supernatural world a little more. Her pet vampire becomes an intriguing character in his own right and I look forward to more of his own adventures at some point. A small point, as a nerd who studied latin I prefer the classic Iagulo to the modern Jugulo

The sex scenes do get a bit more graphic and varied in this book, they are well written and enjoyable to listen to.

The narration is very good, mostly. I’m not sure if it’s a consistent typo or, if the narrator is just mispronouncing the word “heady” but it’s a constant error she pronounced it correctly twice in this book as opposed to the other twenty or so times it’s used where she says heedee.

Anyway this book is still great. Nikki Sex is quickly becoming one of my favorite romance writers
