I was looking forward to a light hearted romp like many of the reviews said it would be but I painfully had to stop and couldn’t even finish mission 3. The cause for most of this pain is Esper. Though not a true Marie Sue she is the physical embodiment of the story morality and has many of the same insufferable characteristics. She is, powerful without the need to work for it, the only character with any real agency, suffers no consequences for her ill-conceived actions, and is the “savior” of the crew. Make no mistakes about it, she is the main character and the plot device for much of the stories conflict. This may change in future missions but I doubt it as the author has give her some standalone stories as well. I, for one, will not be continuing to find out.
